Bulb planting.

As part of NWLDC's Green Shoots Grant Scheme, Friends of Thringstone put an application for 2000 spring bulbs to brighten up the village in the spring. This was a matched funded scheme, with the council paying for half of the cost of the bulbs given to each group, and the group paying the remainder. Bulbs provided were daffodil, English bluebells, crocus, narcissus and tulip and the council ordered over 30,000 bulbs to give out to local community groups of which we were one. With the help of 10 volunteers, most of these bulbs were put into the designated areas on 17 October, and it is hoped that they will make a wonderful show of colour in the spring. A spokesman for the group said 'We were very pleased have our application approved, as we already have several areas in the village which we plant and maintain, and felt that extra colour was just what was needed for these areas. We would like to thank everybody who came out to help us with the planting.'
