SCARECROW EVENT Saturday July 6th 2013
In partnership with Thringstone Methodist Church, to celebrate their 150th anniversary, Friends of Thringstone will once again be organising a village scarecrow event.
The event will be opened at 10am by local MP Andrew Bridgen.
People from across the village will be able to take part and there will be prizes for the top three scarecrows.
Anybody out there interested in having a scarecrow this summer?
We have already had half a dozen people who have put their name down to build one, and obviously would like to loads scattered around the village.
The cost is £3 and for that you will get straw, details of how to make a scarecrow (if you need one) and be featured on the map of the village being issued on the day for people to come and see what you have done - and, of course, you stand a chance of winning a prize.
Judging will be done by Thringstone Brownies and Rainbows.
There will be a fire engine for kids to visit.
A free concert is being put on at the church hall at 7 pm on Friday 5th July with The Beltones.
There will be a slide show at 10.30am and 3.30pm on the Saturday 6th July, and there will be stalls selling cakes, teas and coffees.
For further details, please contact Nita on 01530 223434.

As
a result of a successful funding bid, Friends of Thringstone are now
able to offer residents of the village the opportunity to borrow a
Smart Meter.
These are a very useful addition to the home as they provide you with
up to the second information on the amount of electricity you are using
in terms of both power and cost, and thus allow you to look at making
savings. You can see in real time the benefits of turning off
electrical devices at home. Whether it's turning off at the plug rather
than just using standby, or simply turning off a light, the smart meter
shows you the cash impact of changing your habits and behaviours which
could amount to savings of hundreds of pounds per year.
Friends of Thringstone have 7 Owl meters, which are available through a
Loan Scheme, linking to NWLDC's sustainability team.
If you are interested in borrowing one of these meters, please contact
either:

or

to discuss this.
